Shade of March is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter David Gagliardi, who wrote all the music, lyrics and string arrangements for the group.

The group included musicians Andrew Chalmers (Laura), Carolyn Gannell (Laura), Ben Davey (Kimbra), Sam Henry (Kite Club), Keith Ratnan, Kelly Daymond, Clare Younis and Nerida Trask (Catnip).

While the bulk of recordings were done at home by David, the final recordings are the result of his close relationship with mixing engineer Laurence Maddy (TISM, Something For Kate, Paul Kelly).

Like all of David’s work the Shade of March releases were strongly supported by music media and radio stations Triple R, Triple J, 4ZZZ, Fbi, SER and 6RTR.

What started simply as personal recordings soon became too big and exciting to confine to the realm of audio media alone. Performing live as a five-piece David lead the band at numerous Melbourne venues and the group became a popular favourite amongst the Melbourne alternative live music scene.
